About The Position

The Senior Academic HR Coordinator position is part of the Academic Personnel Services (APS) within the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost (EVPP) at The University of Texas at Austin. This role is dedicated to managing key academic processes and providing consultative support on matters requiring professional judgment and knowledge of policies, laws, and procedures as they pertain to faculty and academic staff. The position is expected to continue and is based at the UT Main Campus, with the possibility of remote work arrangements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience working with human resource functions in a university environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven capacity to collaborate efficiently within a team and engage effectively with individuals across various levels and backgrounds.
  • Ability to perform effectively in dynamic, high-pressure settings while consistently meeting deadlines and fulfilling assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unexpected challenges quickly, calmly and efficiently and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Skilled in handling confidential information with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and TEAMS.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of experience working with academic human resource functions at UT Austin or a comparable institution.
  • Experience working with faculty and administrative and professional (A&P) positions and related policies administered by a university.
  • Knowledge of academic HR processes, approvals, and workflows in a higher education setting.
  • Working knowledge of fundamental position management, organizational structure, and process flow within the Workday platform.
  • Experience with Workday, DEFINE, Interfolio, ServiceNow or other academic HR systems.
  • Experience with faculty affairs or HR administration in higher education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and resolution to campus stakeholders on academic processes, including recruitment, faculty leave requests, promotion and tenure, and terminations.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests related to academic matters within ServiceNow’s ticketing platform.
  • Audit and review faculty Prior Approval Request (PAR) documents to ensure compliance with all rules, regulations, standards, and business procedures.
  • Consult with hiring units on PARs and associated faculty recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Review faculty job postings to ensure compliance with university and state policy.
  • Review and approve business processes in Workday to ensure compliance with Regents Rules, university policy, and EVPP business procedures.
  • Consult with campus stakeholders as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
