About The Position

Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, seeks a Semiconductor Engineer to serve as Solar Cell Device and Panel Product Engineer who can define, characterize, and qualify solar cell devices and panel assemblies as well as the associated materials and processes for current programs and next generation technology developments. You will provide product and process support to meet customer, product performance, quality improvement, design for manufacture (DFM), and cost reduction objectives. Spectrolab is the world’s leading merchant supplier of the highest efficiency multijunction solar cells for spacecraft power systems, with proven reliability drawn from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as well as the International Space Station. Since its founding in 1956, Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high efficiency solar cells for space missions. During the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, a Spectrolab product became the first solar panel to be placed on the moon.

Requirements

  • Years of related experience: 5+ for level 4, 10+ for level 5.
  • Experience with the semiconductor (III-V or Si) industry or solar cell technology.
  • Technical data analysis experience with written and verbal presentation of the results.
  • Engineering support experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim or final U.S. Top Secret clearance post-start is required.
