Driving and transportation : Operate a tractor-trailer truck for both short and long distances to deliver products to customers. Route planning : Plan and adjust routes to meet delivery schedules and deadlines, using GPS and other navigation tools. Loading and unloading : Supervise and/or assist in the safe loading and unloading of cargo. This includes counting, verifying, and securing freight to prevent damage. Vehicle inspection and maintenance : Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the truck is in safe working condition. Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel. Record keeping : Maintain accurate and detailed logs of working hours, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery confirmations in compliance with federal and state regulations, often using electronic logging devices (ELDs). Communication : Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members to provide status updates, report delays, or address issues. Safety and compliance : Follow all applicable traffic laws, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and company safety policies. This includes adhering to mandatory rest periods and safe driving practices. Customer service : Interact professionally and courteously with clients during pickups and deliveries. Dependability : Be a reliable, trustworthy, and hardworking individual who can work independently
