What We're Looking For: We are currently hiring a Semi-Truck Driver. As a Semi-Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe operation of diesel-powered tractor trailer combination with automatic and manual transmission, to transport and deliver products. You must meet state and federal requirement for Class A licensing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned) * Transport product between plants, keeping accurate count of product being moved to various locations. * Moving oversized equipment on low-boy and double trailers. * Inspects truck and trailer for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition. * Ensures load is secure and sealed. * Keep equipment clean, recognize problems on equipment, fix minor problems, and fuel equipment. * Perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, etc. * Position locks, tie rope/chains and load locks around items to secure cargo during transit. May install tire chains in winter. * Maintains driver log according to I.C. regulations and fuel slips. * Assists workers in loading and unloading truck. At times, may stack cases up to 55 lbs. * Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other loading equipment. * Maintain required licensing (WA State Driver's License with CDL Class A endorsement and current Medical Examiner's Certificate). TWIC must be kept up to date. * Maintain knowledge of current DOT laws and regulations. * Notify employer of any moving violations, accident and/or equipment damages, the day of said notice while operating a company vehicle. * Notify employer of any moving violations at the start of their next working day when violation occurs off-the-job and in own vehicle. * All notifications will initially be verbal to their direct supervisor and documented by supervisor. TCF drivers are expected to represent the Company with a positive, professional image to our customers and public by: * Taking all reasonable precautions to ensure their personal hygiene and cleanliness. Clothing must be clean, free of holes and not be excessively loose or baggy. * Full length pants are required. Shorts, rolled up pants, skirts and dresses are not allowed. Shirts with sleeves are required. All clothing must be free of rhinestones, glitter, or any like materials which may come loose. * Beards (more than 2 days growth), goatees, sole patches, handle bar and waxed mustaches are not allowed on any TCF employee. * The use of tobacco products is not allowed inside any company building or in any company vehicle. This includes electronic cigarettes (or personal vaporizers), cigars, pipes, smokeless tobacco, and chewing tobacco. Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Monitors own work to ensure quality. Quantity - Meets productivity standards; Works quickly. Safety and Security - Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Due to wet, slippery, and/or uneven surfaces, drivers are required to wear personal footwear that is suitable for driving and working in those conditions. Open toed, open heeled, or moccasin type footwear is not permitted. This includes: Flip flops, sandals, crocs and similar footwear. Washington state law prohibits the use of wireless communication devices while driving by holding the device to your ear, or to send, read or write a text message. It is Twin City Foods' policy that use of cell phones while driving company vehicles is to be in a hands-free mode only. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of three years of experience operating a semi-truck and trailer. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization in English. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: No Computer skills needed at this time. Certificates and Licenses: WA State Driver's License with CDL Class A endorsement and TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) and current Medical Examiner's Certificate. Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no employee supervisory responsibilities; however, each driver is responsible for supervising the loading and unloading of their vehicle.
