The Warehouse Selector position at Heinen's Inc. involves accurately selecting products in a safe and efficient manner to fulfill orders and meet delivery schedules. This entry-level role is essential for maintaining the quality of service that Heinen's is known for, requiring attention to detail and the ability to work in various temperature-controlled environments.

  • Accurately select product by matching slot numbers and product descriptions using a voice-activated warehouse management system.
  • Read and identify merchandise and stock location tickets.
  • Work within various warehouse environments of fluctuating temperatures, including dry, cooler, and freezer areas.
  • Meet and maintain established productivity standards.
  • Operate an electric pallet jack or forklift to transport product.
  • Stack product on pallets in accordance with proper selecting procedures for damage-free shipping.
  • Shrink wrap and stage completed pallets of selected product in proper shipping lanes for loading.
  • Communicate with leadership team regarding safety, equipment, damaged goods, and any issues that may arise.
  • Maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment.
  • Perform physical tasks such as reaching, bending, twisting, and stooping to place merchandise in storage areas and on pallets.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to meet or exceed minimum efficiency levels established through production standards.
  • Production driven with the ability to work at a constant pace in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry cases of up to 50 pounds from pick slots.
  • Effective reading, writing, and communication skills as it relates to job and safety regulations.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and availability to work various shifts and overtime as necessary.
  • Ability to tolerate temperatures down to 10 degrees F for up to 8 hours (Freezer Order Picker) and down to 35 degrees F below zero for Produce Order Picker.
  • Ability to stay in the confined area of the operator compartment of the hi-lift for an 8-hour work shift.
  • Ability to lift/lower and push/pull merchandise weighing up to 70 pounds over 1000 times a day.
