About The Position

The position is located in Charlotte, MI, and involves assisting the Pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing, and delivery of prescription medications and other healthcare supplies to patients. The role includes essential duties that cover the minimum responsibilities assigned regularly, with the possibility of additional tasks as assigned by leadership. The position requires adherence to the organization's policies and procedures, and compliance guidelines, while completing all duties under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Requirements

  • Pharmacy Technician certification.
  • Michigan State Pharmacy Technician License.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of pharmacy terms.
  • Knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and hospital policies.
  • Typing and computer skills for accurate data entry.
  • Mathematical/computation skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective communication.
  • Mental ability to work on tasks requiring accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Pharmacist in providing effective and safe pharmaceutical services.
  • Prepares and compounds drug products and intravenous solutions for pharmacist approval.
  • Supports the IV admixture service by ensuring timely preparation and delivery of IV solutions.
  • Prepares STAT and new orders immediately and assists in labeling premixed solutions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and stock levels in sterile compounding areas.
  • Delivers and documents the distribution of narcotics and controlled substances.
  • Checks and restocks crash carts and kits as needed.
  • Prepares, delivers, restocks, and helps maintain automated drug dispensing machines.
  • Orders and receives medications and pharmaceutical supplies from wholesalers.
  • Maintains adequate stock levels of drugs and supplies.
  • Organizes outdated or overstocked medications for return.
  • Packages medications into unit dose containers.
  • Audits medication storage areas for safe storage practices.
  • Transports prescription medications and healthcare supplies to patient care areas.
  • Attends meetings and in-service programs as required.
  • Serves as a role model for the organization's mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives.
