About The Position

Job Summary: The Segment Risk Manager Sr - Credit Card supports the execution of the Card (Credit and Debit Card) risk program through identifying, measuring, monitoring, and controlling aggregate risk in the context of the Enterprise Payment’s Segment risk framework. Works cross-functionally with Card Leadership, Segment Risk Leadership, and Risk Pillar partners to fulfill responsibilities such as on-going risk assessments, support of change management activities, and qualitative and quantitative risk analysis and mitigation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in credit and debit card risk management, consumer lending, or fraud prevention within a banking environment
  • Time management and work prioritization abilities are essential.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications and the ability to communicate and present requirements and issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong partnerships and work collaboratively with all businesses.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of card products, payment systems, and card network operations (Visa, Mastercard, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience with credit policy design, portfolio analytics, and loss mitigation strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of US Banking regulations related to consumer credit and electronic payments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive risk management frameworks for credit and debit card portfolios.
  • Partner with the payments credit risk team to establish and maintain risk appetite, credit policy, and exposure limits for card products.
  • Monitor portfolio performance metrics (delinquencies, charge-offs, fraud trends, and economic conditions).
  • Partner with the Enterprise Fraud team to ensure fraud detection systems are relevant to the card portfolio and work with vendors and the card business team to enhance prevention capabilities.
  • Collaborate with collections and underwriting teams to refine credit strategies and minimize losses.
  • Lead investigations and root cause analyses of fraud incidents or risk breaches.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable banking regulations and card network requirements (e.g., Reg Z, Reg E, PCI DSS, Visa/ Mastercard rules).
  • Support internal and external audits, examinations, and regulatory reviews related to card programs.
  • Partner with data analytics teams to develop and refine credit reporting and early warning systems.
  • Use data insights to recommend policy updates, pricing adjustments, or product enhancements.
  • Work cross-functionally with Operations, Compliance, Technology, and other key risk partners to strengthen end-to-end risk management.
  • Represent segment risk, and where necessary lead discussions, in product development meetings to ensure new initiatives align with risk appetite.
  • Provides input on policy and procedure development while ensuring controls are in place to drive business unit adherence.
  • Participate in the quarterly Risk and Control Self-Assessment process.
