About The Position

The Cleaning and Maintenance Person will be responsible for maintaining a high-profile artist studio, ensuring cleanliness and organization in a dynamic environment that includes caring for animals, particularly birds. This full-time position requires a reliable and hardworking individual who can handle various cleaning and maintenance tasks while working independently and as part of a small team.

Requirements

• Proven experience in cleaning and maintenance, preferably in large, commercial, or high-profile spaces (art studios, galleries, or similar environments).
• Comfortable and experienced in handling animals, particularly birds, and cleaning their enclosures with care and attention to their well-being.
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects, move large paintings, and handle other physically demanding tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small, close-knit team.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and flexible, with the ability to take on new tasks as needed.
• Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
• Previous experience in an art studio or similar creative environment is a plus.
• Self-starter.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must speak fluent English.
• Must be comfortable around tropical birds.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain a 30,000 square foot space daily, ensuring it is spotless and well-organized.
• Meticulously clean and maintain 6 large bird cages and the aviary, ensuring a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for the birds.
• Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing high-traffic areas, including restrooms and common spaces.
• Assist with the removal of heavy garbage, recyclables, and debris.
• Handle moving, unpacking, and transporting artwork, including large or heavy paintings, sculptures, and crates in tandem with the Shipping and Packing Department.
• Unload and organize incoming art crates, packages, and shipments.
• Ensure the studio is well-stocked with necessary cleaning supplies, maintaining inventory levels.
• Perform minor repairs and assist with facility upkeep, including light maintenance duties.
• Coordinate with the studio manager for any larger repairs or specialized needs.
