About The Position

Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Seed Production Specialist to join our Hermiston, Oregon team. This role provides leadership and hands-on support for Hybrid Seed Production, with a strong emphasis on field operations, data integrity, safety, and collaboration with growers and internal partners. In this role, you will help ensure the production of high-quality seed through effective field preparation and management, planting, detasseling, harvesting, data collection, and seed processing activities. This position offers opportunities to grow your technical expertise while contributing to solutions that help address some of the world’s most pressing agricultural challenges. Please note: there is no visa sponsorship or relocation assistance provided for this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED with 2-5 years agriculture experience or Associate’s degree in Agronomy, Biology, Plant Breeding, or a related scientific field (preferred)
  • Ability to develop, follow, and support technical protocols
  • Strong attention to detail with solid basic math and data-handling skills
  • Ability and willingness to adapt roles and responsibilities to support evolving business needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of making independent decisions
  • Commitment to safety, risk management, and continuous improvement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new technologies and software systems
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; willingness to operate company vehicles
  • Willingness to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License in Oregon and Washington, if required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive motion and lifting tasks
  • Willingness to work in a variety of environments (field, plant, warehouse) and weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, dry)
  • Perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, and working outdoors in varying ergonomic conditions
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, and seasonal peak periods

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an agricultural discipline
  • Working knowledge of production agriculture, with emphasis on corn seed production
  • Experience operating farm machinery and field equipment (tractors, planters, cultivators, irrigation systems)
  • Knowledge of field techniques such as scouting, cultivating, wheel-pulling, cutting, and irrigation
  • Previous field scouting or integrated pest management training
  • Experience providing basic maintenance support for tractors, planters, detasselers, or related equipment
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Forklift certification or experience
  • Class A CDL

Responsibilities

  • Manage production fields in assigned growing area, ensuring quality, yield, and adherence to standard operating procedures while exercising independent judgment as appropriate
  • Plan and execute field activities including planting, detasseling, harvesting, rouging, and general plot maintenance
  • Collect, organize, and summarize field and seed production data before, during, and after planting in accordance with established protocols and timelines
  • Utilize technology and software tools to collect, evaluate, analyze, and distribute data
  • Provide field support activities such as mapping, allocations, and experimental data collection as needed
  • Collaborate closely with growers to deliver a successful crop by proactively identifying production risks and recommending corrective actions within standard procedures
  • Communicate effectively with growers, coworkers, and management to ensure alignment and operational success
  • Support processing and warehouse operations, including harvest, drying, conditioning, treatment, packaging, shipping, and other seasonal needs during fall and winter
  • Provide flexible support to agronomists or other production specialists, including support for other projects the station manages when requested.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams and committees, including Safety, Field, Plant, and Warehouse
  • Lead or support location safety programs as assigned
  • May participate in hiring committees and supervise seasonal, temporary employees, and Research Assistants to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
