Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Seed Logistics Specialist, based in Grimes, Iowa. Do you like challenges and solving problems? This person will be responsible for assisting the seed logistics specialist in ordering, sourcing, evaluating warehouse inventory, drop shipping, seed request, seed inventory data management, and ensuring quality, quantity and timelines are maintained. This position directly supports the Corteva Agriscience's Research & Development (R&D) seed product development division. You will work with several diverse groups to track, report, and manage inbred seed movement for R&D throughout North America and other regions of the world where research and plant breeding is conducted. You will work closely with the operations team to ensure a seamless flow of data and seed. Please note: there is no visa sponsorship or relocation assistance provided for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Knowledge of agriculture, seed production, seed testing and plant breeding/genetics
  • Experience with analytical tools, (Python, R, JMP, SAS, etc)
  • Working knowledge of inventory systems, such as PRISM, SAP R/3, SPIN
  • Database skills to include querying and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills, adept at using standard software programs and learning internal data systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Adaptability to a fluid work environment and changes in project priorities
  • Flexibility to work extended days and weekends at critical times of the season.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma, LEAN and/or APICS CPIM certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the seed order process, including ordering, sourcing, and planning the movement of seeds from research and commercial production sites.
  • Lead communication of a cross functional group to meet winter nursery shipping and planting deadlines to keep hybrid production on time
  • Monitor and track seed shipments from the point of order to their destination, ensuring that both quality and location are maintained.
  • Manage electronic seed inventory data by ensuring the highest quality inbred and nursery seed sources are inventoried and utilized by the R&D organization
  • Ensure compliance with global phytosanitary regulations for all source selections and international seed shipments, including arranging for required disease testing through external laboratories
  • Adhere to inventory retention timelines and identifying sources for discard
  • Assist in the demand planning process by capturing customer demand requirements and coordinating with production suppliers to ensure demand fulfillment
  • Manage the selection of inbred source material for a variety of applications, including research trials, hybrid production.
  • Coordinate the sourcing of orders and seed requests for internal and external customers by analyzing specifications, ensuring regulatory and intellectual property compliance, assessing quality traits, and managing supply
  • Maintain and validate source inventory data records to ensure the accuracy of basic and quality trait information
  • Create reports for various platforms, including Power BI and SQL.
  • Ensure all activities under your responsibility comply with safety and regulatory standards, as well as company safety policies, protocols, and procedures.
