About The Position

The Security Training Specialist Senior at Atrium Health is responsible for delivering and refining a comprehensive Workplace Violence Prevention (WPV) Training Program aimed at reducing incidents of workplace violence. This role involves managing aggressive behavior, recognizing and reporting indicators of workplace violence, and mitigating risk factors by incorporating lessons learned from incidents into tailored prevention and response protocols. The training strategies are designed to be best-in-class, ensuring that all employees are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle potential workplace violence situations effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • Certified Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor and Certified Range Safety Officer or obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in Instructor/Trainer roles in private sector security, public safety, law enforcement, or military.
  • At least 1 year of experience designing weapons and firearms related content/curriculum.
  • Experience as a firearms instructor and firearms armorer.
  • Knowledge and experience with training records management and Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including off-shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with firearms simulators and Axon (Taser) virtual reality.
  • Advanced firearms and marksmanship skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and refine an integrated and multi-modality performance-management training framework for Public Safety Officers and security support staff.
  • Provide operational oversight and administration of the armed public safety officer program, including training program development and records management.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in physical use of force and weapons.
  • Design, develop, implement, and oversee simulated scenario-based training.
  • Create and distribute training materials to ensure consistent and repeatable service delivery.
  • Work within a specified region to deliver training content and materials.
  • Collaborate with the training team to develop and refine training program root-cause analyses and identify high payoff opportunities.
  • Assist in the design and coordination of major training events such as active-shooter drills.
  • Solicit and analyze feedback to increase training effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state security and risk regulations.
  • Represent Security and Public Safety in various situations and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
