Requirements

  • Basic understanding of local and wide area networks (LANs & WANs) is required.
  • Communicates effectively in both oral and written communications.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering/drawings/blueprints for accuracy and corrections.
  • Ability to interface with engineers/architects/vendors during design, bidding, and installation of security systems.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to establish priorities and proceed with objectives with little supervision.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Visio).
  • 3 to 5 years experience as an electronics technician, preferably in the security products industry.
  • A minimum of five years of work related skill, knowledge, or experience in a security system installation and maintenance capacity is preferred.
  • Experience working alone in a Service Technician position supporting wide range of security systems equipment, components and software is preferred.
  • Manufacturer certifications in enterprise level access control and CCTV systems, with a preference for Software House and NICE certifications are greatly preferred.
  • Prefer experience with fire alarm systems, Fire Alarm industry codes/requirements and various methods of interfacing Fire Alarm and security systems for life safety purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience with the following systems is preferred: Software House CCURE 800/CCURE 900, NICE, Video Management Software, version NET 2.5, Southwest Microwave perimeter protection system, Analog and IP CCTV cameras, American Dynamics CCTV cameras and video matrix switches, Inovonics Wireless network systems, Southwest Microwave perimeter detection systems.
  • Knowledge of Relay logic, familiarity with electronic locking and other various door hardware components, and successful experience with complex system installations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, troubleshoot and maintain SRP's electronic security systems and components to include, card readers, cameras, intercoms, video encoders/decoders, control panels and other various security and CCTV head end equipment.
  • Work independently and efficiently on tasks assigned by Security Services Management.
  • Perform advanced security system software configuration in support of installation and maintenance work.
  • Participate and assist in a technical capacity, with customer and Security Services initiated project site walks.
  • Assist with security systems design and product specification/selection.
  • Coordinate security systems project and maintenance work with Facilities Services, IT and other various SRP departments/customers.
  • Serve as a security systems technical resource to Security Service Management and other SRP departments/customers.
  • Seek out and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of SRP's physical security systems through the use of new technology, new policies/procedures, industry best practices, etc.
  • Assist with physical security assessments of SRP facilities to evaluate security system coverage and effectiveness, and assist in preparing assessment reports and documentation.
  • Prepare documentation in a variety of written and electronic formats (e.g. daily paperwork/log, time and materials, key and material records, control panel loading schedules, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support in compliance with regulations and/or conveying information.
  • Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
