The Security Systems Programmer is responsible for the integration, programming, and ongoing support of enterprise-level access control, surveillance, and intrusion detection systems. This role ensures systems are configured to meet operational and security requirements, optimized for performance, and maintained according to industry best practices.

  • Program, configure, and optimize access control, surveillance (CCTV/IP video), and intrusion detection systems for both new installations and existing environments.
  • Develop system logic for custom functionality, user permissions, and event responses.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and field technicians to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Conduct system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 technical support to end users and internal teams.
  • Maintain system uptime through proactive monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Create and maintain programming documentation, configuration records, and as-built drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, firmware updates, and software advancements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in programming and integrating enterprise-level security systems.
  • Familiarity with Mercury, LenelS2, Genetec, Openpath, Avigilon, Axis, Hanwha, or comparable platforms.
  • Proficiency in programming logic and configuration of access control, surveillance, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE, routing, VPN).
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java (a plus).
  • Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Axis Certified Professional, Lenel Certified Associate, Genetec Security Center).
  • Industry credentials (e.g., ASIS PSP, BICSI, CompTIA Network+).
