About The Position

The Security Systems Operator plays a vital role in supporting the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors across Northern Light Health and its Member Organizations. This position is responsible for the daily operation and monitoring of security technologies and critical infrastructure, with a primary focus on ID Badge Management. Additional responsibilities include oversight and support of access control systems, video surveillance, infant protection, mass notification, and incident reporting platforms. Operating within a healthcare environment, the Security Systems Operator works closely with both clinical and non-clinical departments, as well as external vendors, to ensure the effective operation and regulatory compliance of all security systems. This technical role demands a solid understanding of healthcare workflows, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to evolving safety and security needs in a fast-paced care setting. Workflow includes reviewing data imports from Human Resources for new, transferring and terminating employees creating new ID badges, updating existing and deactivating as needed. The position requires assigning proper access clearances to staff and modifying as transfers occur. Daily review of badge reject file for attempted use of lost or deactivated badges and following up with appropriate department leadership as needed. The Badge Office provides ID badges for the majority of Member Organizations and requires accurate tracking of badges made for each MO for proper cost transfer. The delivered result from this position has impact and influence over work related to others across service lines within Northern Light Health. Receives general supervision and may act independently to achieve established goals, consulting with management as appropriate. The position requires the ability to organize, prioritize and reprioritize on short notice while maintaining acute attention to detail with a high degree of professionalism and business maturity. Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully respond to persons on all levels and maintains productive relationships.

Requirements

  • Valid State Driver's License and meets Northern Light Health insurability standards.

  • Operation of the NLH Access Control and Employee Identification Badge System:
  • Ensures compliance with established personnel badging standards for both employees and non-employees.
  • Maintains appropriate clearance levels and access restrictions.
  • Monitors system integrations with Infor, API Timeclocks, Volante Deduct-It, and various other IS applications.
  • User Support:
  • Serves as initial point of contact for ID Badge Issues.
  • Provides requested and required reports for department leaders, human resources, risk management, compliance, and security leadership.
  • Compliance, Documentation, and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to security systems, incidents, and operations.
  • Ensure privacy standards compliance with CMS, CISA, IoMT, and organizational policies.
  • Support Information Systems (IS), Information Security (InfoSec), and relative IS operations and technology, as directed.
  • Handle and protect highly confidential patient, employee and/or company proprietary information, in accordance with hospital &system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards.
  • Equipment and Inventory Management:
  • Assist in preventive maintenance and inspections of security equipment.
  • Support department inventory control and equipment accountability.
  • Monitor and track supply levels of security equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by Manager of Security.
