The National Geographic Society headquarters, based in Washington, D.C., is undergoing a significant renovation project on its campus (called Base Camp), which will be completed in 2026. The public-facing portion of this renovation will be the new National Geographic Museum of Exploration. Components of the new museum will include a state-of-the-art pavilion entrance, auditorium, iconic photo gallery, exhibition space, immersive walk-through attraction, retail, food and beverage, education center, archives, tours, and exciting new event space. The capstone of the renovation is a one-of-a-kind nighttime experience in the courtyard. This position will provide support to the Security Manager and Director. The successful candidate will ensure that effective systems are in place, so as to manage security emergencies and keep all staff aware of security regulations and compliance procedures. This position will also be responsible for knowledge of the Security systems, supervision of assigned security personnel, and enforcement of established security procedures, guidelines, and protection measures. This position is considered essential (24/7) and personnel will be required to come to or remain at work during emergency situations to assure proper coverage until properly relieved. A flexible work schedule is required for this position which includes working 3 shift variations which may include, days, evenings, nights, weekend, holidays, reporting for duty on short notice and overtime. Assume post duties as needed when short staffed. Schedule consists of: 1 morning, 2 afternoons, 2 nights.
