About The Position

The Security Specialist duties include, but not limited to patrol operations, designed to safeguard people, to prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, material, and documents, and to safeguard them against damage or loss and completion of all security related PWS tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Ability to walk & climb stairs as well as bend and squat for extended periods of time.
  • Possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience performing a combination of vulnerability and risk assessments, physical security inspections, and physical security surveys.

  • Must complete the Risk Management Process (RMP) & Facility Security Committee (FSC) Training within the first year of assignment
  • Knowledge and/or experience in project management and business rules.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of federal arrest authority.
  • Strong personnel management skills; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior knowledge, analytical, persuasion, and problem-solving skills relative to health, safety, environmental, and business matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple, high priority tasks simultaneously.
  • Capable of assimilating and critically evaluating information.
  • Successfully completed all training and have obtained all required permits, licenses, certifications, and security/medical clearances for the site.
  • Equivalent education/experience is applicable.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must be able to meet drug testing and alcohol – free workforce requirements to include random drug and/or alcohol testing.
  • Have no felony convictions and no convictions that reflect on the individual’s reliability including those crimes classified under the Lautenberg Act.
  • Must be able to maintain and qualify periodically on a course of fire with handgun, or other special weapons.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain NASA Physical Certifications and complete a Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory -2 (MMPI-2) and Shipley Institute of Living Scale psychological examinations.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner.
  • Execute and sustain a comprehensive physical security protection program utilizing physical measures designed to safeguard people, to prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, material, and documents, and to safeguard them against damage and loss.
  • Provide priority attention and added protection to NASA Mission Essential Infrastructure (MEI) assets and conduct MEI assessments.
  • Maintain records of the numeric combinations and of approved individuals. Record these combinations in the NASA Resource Management System (RMS)
  • Assist in developing program security plans, facility security plans, site security plans, contingency plans, and operational security plans and distribute as required
