Requirements

  • Working knowledge of all aspects of corporate security, evidence gathering, investigative techniques, human behavior, and new developments in the security field.
  • Working knowledge of emergency planning, legal aspects, personnel security, physical security, protection of information, and loss prevention.
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State, and County statutes,
  • Working knowledge of general company policies including the Collective Bargaining Agreement, Code of Conduct, Security Procedures, etc.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of CCTV and access control programs
  • Possess, or obtain within 2 months of hire, an active State of Hawaii Guards License
  • Be certified, or receive certified training within 6 months of hire, to provide executive and employee protection support as required, including advance planning, travel and event coordination, threat assessment, situational awareness, and protective presence. Able to apply verbal de-escalation and conflict management techniques to defuse tense or confrontational situations involving employees, contractors, or members of the public, with the objective of reducing risk, preventing escalation, and supporting safe and appropriate resolution.
  • Must be prepared to emotionally deal with and physically able to function for extended hours at accident scenes, various company facilities, and be able to respond to call-outs at all hours (weekends and holidays).
  • Possess leadership skills, flexibility in interpersonal style, and conflict resolution skills to influence and persuade various groups or individuals, frequently dealing with sensitive, difficult or confrontational issues.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, and with various Federal, State and County officials.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • In depth analytical and investigative skills.
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in law enforcement, corporate security or equivalent experience including investigative work.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, administers, and monitors physical security programs to protect company assets and ensure a secure workplace for all employees across the company.  Keeps abreast of changes and new advances in the area of security and assets protection.
  • Investigates security incidents and general public accidents/complaints.  Files formal reports and makes recommendations to reduce reoccurrences and provides assistance in litigation matters as necessary. Maintains liaison with various law enforcement agencies.
  • Conducts security assessments and facility inspections in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • As required, directs and coordinates efforts of contract security personnel.
  • Assists with executive and employee protection as needed.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
