Gavin de Becker & Associates (GDBA) is dedicated to protecting the world's most influential and at-risk public figures. Founded in 1978 by Gavin de Becker, a three-time Presidential appointee, our firm is committed to the mission of safeguarding human life through the assessment, prediction, and management of violence. As a newly hired Protector, you will be stationed in Menlo Park/Palo Alto, where you will earn a minimum of $80,000 in your first year, with potential earnings up to $95,000 based on relevant experience and performance in the GDBA Training Academy. This full-time position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan. In your role as a Protector, you will be responsible for monitoring properties using the advanced tools and technology available at the GDBA Command Center. Your duties will include screening visitors and vendors, controlling access to protected sites, coordinating and executing security plans, and responding to medical emergencies. You will provide physical protection and logistical support at clients' homes and during their travels, ensuring secure transportation as needed. Additionally, you will survey and prepare locations prior to the client's arrival, document any suspicious activity, and maintain readiness to address any potential threats. GDBA values diverse backgrounds and experiences, and while military, law enforcement, or executive protection experience is beneficial, it is not a requirement. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, physical fitness, a willingness to learn, integrity, and a collaborative spirit. Our promotion system is merit-based, emphasizing performance over seniority. Candidates can expect a 12-day Introductory Essential Protector Skills (EPS) Training Academy, followed by a two-year Professional Leadership Track (PLT) that includes extensive training and mentorship to prepare for future leadership roles within the organization. Protectors must also pass a physical readiness test, be drug and nicotine-free, and successfully complete a pre-employment background investigation.
