About The Position

Gavin de Becker & Associates (GDBA) is a premier security firm dedicated to protecting the world's most influential and at-risk public figures. Founded in 1978 by Gavin de Becker, a three-time Presidential appointee, GDBA's mission is to ensure the safety, privacy, and wellbeing of its clients through the assessment, prediction, and management of violence. As a newly hired Protector, you will be stationed in Menlo Park/Palo Alto, where you will earn a minimum of $80,000 in your first year, with potential earnings up to $95,000 based on prior relevant experience and performance in the GDBA Training Academy. This full-time position comes with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan. In your role as a Protector, you will be responsible for monitoring properties using advanced tools and technology from the GDBA Command Center. You will screen visitors and vendors, control access to protected sites, and coordinate security plans while responding to medical emergencies. Your duties will also include providing physical protection and logistical support at clients' homes and during travel, ensuring secure transportation, surveying and preparing locations prior to client arrivals, and documenting any suspicious activities. Maintaining readiness to meet any potential threats is a critical aspect of your role. GDBA values diverse backgrounds and experiences, particularly in military, law enforcement, or executive protection/security, although these are not mandatory. The firm prioritizes effective communication, physical fitness, a willingness to learn, honesty, and teamwork. GDBA operates on a merit-based promotion system, emphasizing performance over seniority. Candidates can expect a 12-day Introductory Essential Protector Skills (EPS) Training Academy, followed by a two-year Professional Leadership Track (PLT) that includes extensive training and mentorship to prepare for future leadership roles within the organization.
