Gavin de Becker & Associates (GDBA) is a premier security firm dedicated to protecting the world's most influential and at-risk public figures. Founded in 1978 by Gavin de Becker, a three-time Presidential appointee, GDBA's mission is to ensure the safety, privacy, and wellbeing of its clients through the assessment, prediction, and management of violence. The firm is seeking full-time Protectors to join its team in Menlo Park/Palo Alto, where they will be responsible for a variety of security-related tasks. Newly hired Protectors can expect to earn a minimum of $80,000 in their first year, with potential earnings up to $95,000 based on prior relevant experience and performance in the GDBA Training Academy. As a Protector, you will play a crucial role in monitoring properties using advanced tools and technology from the GDBA Command Center. Your responsibilities will include screening visitors and vendors, controlling access to protected sites, coordinating and executing security plans, and responding to medical emergencies. You will also provide physical protection and logistical support at clients' homes and during travel, ensuring secure transportation as needed. Additionally, you will survey and prepare locations prior to client arrivals, document any suspicious activity, and maintain readiness to address any potential threats. GDBA values diverse backgrounds and experiences, particularly in military, law enforcement, or executive protection/security, although these are not strict requirements. The firm emphasizes effective communication, physical fitness, a willingness to learn, honesty, and teamwork as key attributes for successful Protectors. GDBA operates on a merit-based promotion system, where performance is prioritized over seniority. Candidates can expect a comprehensive training program, including a 12-day Introductory Essential Protector Skills (EPS) Training Academy and a two-year Professional Leadership Track (PLT) that prepares Protectors for future leadership roles within the organization.
