About The Position

The Security Specialist (Physical) position within the Department of Defense is a critical role focused on ensuring the physical security of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) assets. The incumbent will be responsible for researching and recommending various physical security equipment, preparing statements of work for physical security systems, and conducting thorough risk analyses and inspections. This role requires the preparation of compliance reports that detail the findings of physical security inspections, ensuring that all USACE assets are protected against theft, sabotage, terrorism, and other criminal acts. In addition to these responsibilities, the Security Specialist will provide technical expertise to engineers on projects that have a security nexus, guiding them in the implementation of effective security measures. The role also involves overseeing contracted security guards, ensuring they adhere to established protocols and standards. The incumbent will assist in developing both long and short-range goals for the Protection Program, participating actively in the creation and implementation of an integrated protection and physical security policy. Management of the Visitor Management System, Visitor Vetting program, and Key Control programs will also fall under the purview of this position. The Security Specialist will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of these systems, ensuring that all visitors are properly vetted and that access to sensitive areas is controlled and monitored effectively.
