About The Position

The Security Specialist will serve as the Special Security Officer at NASA's Glenn Research Center, managing the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility. This role involves developing and implementing security policies and procedures to protect NASA assets from various threats, including unauthorized disclosure and sabotage. The specialist will also be responsible for assessing the reliability of personnel with access to sensitive information and fostering relationships with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Specialized experience in physical security for facilities and personnel.
• Experience in public safety operations for protection of data and property.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with stakeholders.
• For GS-11: One year of experience equivalent to GS-09 level or relevant education.
• For GS-12: One year of experience equivalent to GS-11 level.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities.
• Knowledge of federal security regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the development and implementation of security policies and procedures for NASA assets.
• Manage the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility as a Special Security Officer.
• Safeguard sensitive information and materials in custody of the Agency and other organizations.
• Assess the reliability and trustworthiness of personnel with access to sensitive information.
• Develop and maintain methods to enhance physical protection of facilities and personnel.
• Track and manage special projects within the Office of Protective Services.
• Provide security education to employees through briefings and training.
• Develop security plans for NASA special events.
• Assist as a NASA Special Agent with investigations and emergency response.
