About The Position

The position is a part-time security role within Advocate Health, specifically in the Loss Prevention department. The role requires a minimum of three eight-hour shifts per month and includes 40 hours of academy training and 120 hours of in-house training. The pay range for this position is between $21.45 and $32.20 per hour. The security officer is expected to provide security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion, ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, and staff. Responsibilities include conducting patrols, responding to emergencies, and maintaining compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in a security, related public safety, or customer service area.
  • Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license issued by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
  • Valid driver’s license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
  • Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) use within 90 days of hire.
  • Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) must be obtained within two years of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion.
  • Inspires confidence in patients, visitors, and team members.
  • Complies with and enforces all safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Maintains Department uniform and equipment in good repair.
  • Performs routine responsibilities during interior and exterior patrols.
  • Assists team members, patients, and visitors by providing information and directions.
  • Ensures traffic control and monitors conduct of visitors.
  • Prevents, responds to, and investigates workplace violence.
  • Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation.
  • Responds immediately to emergency and crisis situations.
  • Investigates incidents and completes timely and accurate reports.
  • Delivers security awareness education to team members.
  • Coordinates with law enforcement and first responder agencies.
  • May serve as a precept for newly hired officers.
