About The Position

The Security Safety Officer position at Aurora St Luke's Medical Center is a full-time role working the 2nd shift, requiring 40 hours per week and every other weekend. The officer will provide security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion, ensuring safety and security for patients, visitors, and team members. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Typically requires 1 year of experience in security or related public safety.
• Illinois team members must have completed the State of Illinois 20-hour Basic Security Officer course.
• Ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning.
• Demonstrated experience in assessing dangerous situations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms.
• Must successfully pass background investigation and drug screen.
• Ability to defend self and others in physical confrontations.

Nice To Haves

• Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) issued by IAHSS.
• Valid driver's license.
• Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license.
• Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) use.

Responsibilities

• Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion.
• Conducts routine patrols to ensure safety and security.
• Performs inspections to identify vulnerabilities and hazards.
• Assists team members, patients, and visitors with information and directions.
• Ensures traffic control and monitors visitor conduct.
• Prevents and responds to workplace violence.
• Investigates incidents and completes timely reports.
• Delivers security awareness education to team members.
• Liaisons with law enforcement and first responder agencies.
• Maintains current training standards in security protocols.
