About The Position

The Security Safety Officer position at Aurora St Luke's Medical Center is a full-time role working the 2nd shift, requiring 40 hours per week and every other weekend. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in security or related public safety.
  • Illinois team members must have completed the State of Illinois 20-hour Basic Security Officer course.
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and sound reasoning.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing dangerous situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms.
  • Must successfully pass background investigation and drug screen.
  • Ability to defend self and others in physical confrontations.

Nice To Haves

  • Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) issued by IAHSS.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license.
  • Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) use.

Responsibilities

  • Provides security services with professionalism, fairness, and compassion.
  • Conducts routine patrols to ensure safety and security.
  • Performs inspections to identify vulnerabilities and hazards.
  • Assists team members, patients, and visitors with information and directions.
  • Ensures traffic control and monitors visitor conduct.
  • Prevents and responds to workplace violence.
  • Investigates incidents and completes timely reports.
  • Delivers security awareness education to team members.
  • Liaisons with law enforcement and first responder agencies.
  • Maintains current training standards in security protocols.
