Job Summary We are hiring a security-focused researcher with a deep background in Internet measurement to develop a cryptographic inventory and visibility solution using enterprise network telemetry and Internet measurement techniques. This role combines expertise in network protocols, cryptographic standards, and telemetry analysis to build tools that provide actionable insights into cryptographic usage across enterprise, cloud, and Internet-scale environments. This role will sit with the newly created Post-Quantum Cryptography Center of Excellence within the Comcast Cyber Security (CCS) team. Job Description This position is ineligible for visa sponsorship. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field with 2+ years of professional experience OR equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and network protocols (e.g., TLS, IPsec, DNSsec).
  • Proficiency in development and engineering skills using languages such as Python and C.
  • Familiarity with cryptographic algorithms (RSA, ECC, AES) and digital signatures.
  • Ability to learn and work independently, with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical field.
  • Experience with or familiarity with post-quantum cryptography.
  • Contributions to open-source security tools or frameworks.
  • Track record of publications, contributions to patents, and active involvement in research and engineering projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement security-focused systems and proof-of-concepts for enterprise and cloud environments.
  • Develop and integrate open-source security solutions with existing systems.
  • Research and prototype new cybersecurity and privacy technologies, including cryptographic mechanisms.
  • Analyze network traffic and metadata to assess protocol security, compliance, and risk posture.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to validate findings, publish research, and contribute to open-source tools.
  • Stay current with evolving standards in cryptography (e.g., TLS 1.3, post-quantum crypto) and network security.
