As a Security Representative, you will provide best-in-class security for Perkins School for the Blind, conducting focused patrols by foot or vehicle in order to protect people, property, and information within your assigned area of responsibility. You will work as part of a team, but must also be prepared to act independently as the situation may warrant.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 2 years’ experience in a role requiring strong customer services skills, prior security experience preferred
  • Ability to spend periods of time walking or standing
  • Strong computer/technical skills
  • Schedule Saturday-Wednesday, 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings and grounds of school facilities to ensure security and safety of campus; record inspection times in security log diaries.
  • Check electronic and mechanical devices
  • Notify appropriate officials of emergency or events.
  • Perform janitorial duties and set thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms.
  • Ensure facilities and restricted areas are properly secured
  • Verify need for entry and issue badges to visitors and staff
  • Render first-responder services to all emergencies and incidents
  • Prepare written incident reports
  • Use various computer applications and equipment such as fire extinguishers, first aid supplies, etc.
  • Provide access control, security, and customer interface on campus
  • Answer phone calls and document all messages and requests
  • Perform specialized additional duties relating to controlling computer systems and facility access as needed
