About The Position

The Security Professional at Pacific Science Center is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of staff, guests, and facilities. This role involves monitoring premises, responding to emergencies, and providing exemplary customer service while maintaining a welcoming environment. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to meet operational needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Current first aid and CPR training and certifications (or within six months of hire).
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Nice To Haves

• Prior security and law enforcement experience.
• Proficiency in a second language such as Spanish, Somali, Mandarin, ASL, and/or Vietnamese.

Responsibilities

• Secure premises by performing lock-ups at exhibit closing time and later as events conclude.
• Conduct frequent interior and exterior roves to monitor safety and security situations.
• Actively monitor security cameras to maintain a full view of the premises.
• Respond rapidly and appropriately to emergencies.
• Proactively identify and respond to incidents, hazards, and unauthorized activity.
• Provide exemplary customer service to guests and staff.
• Assist guests with wayfinding and escort them to and from locations as needed.
• Monitor and respond to requests for support via radio calls.
• Inventory and maintain security equipment such as radios.
• Maintain accurate security records through written documentation.
• Adhere to established procedures and protocols.
