As an Access Control Officer in a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify identification, screen visitors, and maintain accurate logs while providing professional customer service and clear communication. You will remain a visible presence, respond to security-related concerns, and support site procedures with integrity and teamwork. This is an armed, driving post, requiring an Armed Guard Card and a valid driver’s license.

Requirements

  • Have 3+ years combined law enforcement, military, and/or security-related experience or a college degree.
  • Possess an Armed Guard Card or license.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service at a government location by following access control procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Operate entry control points by verifying identification, screening visitors and vendors, issuing temporary credentials as directed, and maintaining required access logs.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and/or other access control systems, and report irregular activity per post orders and chain of command.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating with onsite staff and/or public agency personnel as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and/or suspicious activity, with working environments and conditions varying by location.
