Qualifying candidate should have 3-5 years’ experience in a command center, control center, operations center or emergency dispatch environment, prior law enforcement, military, or other relevant security experience. Strong personal computing skills are a must, to include Microsoft Office related programs, familiarity with Internet, databases, and networks. Good organizational skills, with an emphasis on multi-tasking and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor and sound judgment under stressful situations while clearly and accurately communicating incident specific details in both written and verbal formats. The position requires shift work, rotating shifts (shifts change every 6 months). Job OverviewUnder limited supervision, employees in this role provide communications, command, and control functions for the 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC) including access control, alarm monitoring, and assessment, dispatch and communications, emergency response, and critical incident management. This position directs and staffs an assigned team of security personnel to carry out daily department operations. In this role, the employee executes company or business unit specific emergency notification system (ENS) scenarios and reviews department processes and procedures. In the absence of the SOC Manager, this position may supervise and direct shift activities and oversee shift scheduling.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Experience: 3+ years military, law enforcement, security, control center, or emergency dispatch strongly preferred
  • The Monitoring Association (TMA) Certification Operator Level 1 or must be completed within one year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Monitors operations center systems for functionality and status and conducts basic troubleshooting and assessment before escalating problems to the systems support team
  • Works with systems and physical security specialists to test and troubleshoot alarm and access control devices and infrastructure to ensure system integrity
  • Monitors and ensures full NERC CIP compliance relative to access control issues and documents any physical access to and from NERC CIP critical sites
  • Ensures proper notification and coordination for cyber incident reporting, business continuity, serious incidents, and storm-related activities
  • Manages access control issues including the processing of employee and contractor identification badges and access authorization
  • Prepares written documentation on technical problems, security incidents, front-line investigative issues, and security-related matters
  • Administers contractor workforce database and coordinates contract security officer activities
  • Acts on customer service calls and either resolves them or refers issues to the appropriate party
  • Functions as a command and control liaison during incidents and communicates status to response members, senior management, and others involved
  • Completes assigned security special projects, contributes to the development of internal policies and procedures, mentors and trains new team members, and provides input to security operations management on operations and processes for the SOC
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
