About The Position

The Texas Behavioral Health Center is a newly completed state-funded psychiatric hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth, operated by UT Southwestern Medical Center. When fully operational, it will house 292 beds for adult, child, and adolescent patients, providing state-of-the-art, patient-centered behavioral health treatment in a modern and healing environment. The center will also provide training to all behavioral health disciplines. The Security Operations Center Monitor works under general supervision to provide continuous monitoring and reporting of security-related systems within the Texas Behavioral Health Center's SOC. This includes monitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV), electronic access control alarms, duress/panic alarms, and other security system alerts. The role involves communicating observed security events to the University Police Communications Center and supporting the safety and security of forensic and civil hospital environments through accurate documentation, alert notification, and adherence to established protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of experience in security, monitoring, dispatching, or related public safety role.
  • Experience in a hospital, behavioral health, or control-room environment beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors CCTV systems covering exterior areas, entrances/exits, hallways, and other designated security-only locations within the Texas Behavioral Health Center.
  • Observes and identifies potential security issues, suspicious activity, or safety concerns and notifies the University Police Communications Center for appropriate response.
  • Monitors electronic access control alarms (door forced/held alarms, unauthorized attempts, system troubles) and escalates findings per University Police departmental procedures.
  • Monitors and responds to duress/panic alarm activations by ensuring timely communication to the University Police Communications Center.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate documentation of all observed incidents, alarms, system notifications, and communications.
  • Performs basic system checks and reports malfunctioning cameras, offline devices, alarm anomalies, or recording issues to Electronic Security personnel.
  • Supports the University Police Communications Center by providing real-time camera observations during unfolding security situations or officer-initiated requests.
  • Retrieves video clips or assists personnel in identifying camera locations and timestamps for investigative purposes, following chain-of-custody and data-access protocols.
  • Coordinates with on-site contract security officers by relaying observed activity and supporting facility access management when requested.
  • Ensures compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and hospital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
