About The Position

The Security Operations Center Lead is responsible for the physical security of Genentech’s North American Headquarters, as well as associated regional offices, remote site locations, and employees on business travel globally. This position reports directly to the Security Operations Center Manager and is the lead business representative accountable for the performance of the contract security staff. Requirements

  • Possess a 4-year degree in a relevant area of study or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience appropriate for the knowledge and skill demanded by the position (e.g., law enforcement, emergency response, military, or private security)
  • Background consistent with the ability to obtain a BSIS Proprietary Security Officer Registration and any other necessary licenses as required by the position
  • Background consistent with the ability to pass a TSA Security Threat Assessment
  • Domestic and international travel may be required
  • A valid “Class-C” California driver’s license
  • Must satisfactorily meet medical and physical requirements for Emergency Response responsibilities
  • Must possess strong communication skills and be able to report issues in concise, clear language that focuses on the relevant risks and impacts

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties as assigned, primarily under the immediate supervision of the Security Operations Center Manager, but be prepared to act independently when there is not a Security Operations Center Manager on duty.
  • Monitor performance and concurrent assignments being executed by security personnel.
  • Make periodic inspections to observe contract staff and validate they are properly equipped, trained, and fulfilling their duties in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Be aware of business practices or policies belonging to other groups and teams in order to guide decision-making in the business’s best interest.
  • Oversee the company’s response to emergency situations both local and global.
  • Identify and analyze scenarios for which there are no predefined procedures, consider alternatives, and select the most appropriate option using good judgment in accordance with departmental standards, company policies, business needs, and ethical standards.
  • Monitor threats, analyze incident reports, and implement corrective actions, controls, procedures, and countermeasures as appropriate.
