This position maintains a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and employee safety.
Responsibilities
Maintain constant watch for and report unusual conditions to the appropriate personnel.
Patrol plant area, building, surrounding areas and other Hiland owned properties as assigned to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, gates, etc.
Perform random periodic walks around the building/s perimeter to ensure security at all points of entry. Perform a minimum of four (4) rounds per hour on each shift.
Visually oversee the security booth by observing security monitors.
Maintain facility parking rules and policies to include proper vehicle parking and ensuring that fire lanes remain open.
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security.
Monitor the parking lot for burglary and theft prevention.
Perform visual checks for prowlers, fire, or other danger of loss or damage to property and equipment.
Complete reports of any incidents, emergencies, accidents, crisis situations and submits to department supervisor and EHS Manager.
If requested, escort employees to their vehicles to ensure their safety.
Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence/removal of unauthorized persons.
Support the relationship between Hiland and its constituent population by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers, clients, visitors, guests, and Hiland Dairy staff.
Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in the security field.
Must have successfully completed a board approved 40 hours security training program and be awarded certificate of completion.
Maintain the educational and State of Texas security officer's requirements as stated by the Private Security Bureau.
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work weekends, and varying shifts (days, evenings, nights).
Must maintain valid commission certification or be able to obtain a valid commission.
Must have their own handgun.
Ability to accurately record data.
To stand on your feet constantly during your shift.
Maintain constant mental focus and constantly be aware of surroundings.
Must be eligible for and maintain any and all licenses, as required and necessary to serve as an armed security guard.
