About The Position

The Security Officer at Glenstone Museum plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of staff, visitors, and the museum's extensive art collection. This position involves regular interaction with the public and requires a proactive approach to monitoring and protecting the museum's facilities and grounds. The Security Officer will work with a dedicated security team and utilize state-of-the-art technology to maintain a safe environment for all.

Requirements

  • COVID-19 vaccination and up to date on all boosters
  • Strong intercultural competence, interpersonal communication, planning, and organizational skills
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a motor vehicle with a standard transmission
  • Able to read and write clearly and concisely in English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Web Browsing
  • Able to work off-hour events and weekends as needed
  • Proficiency with electronic systems including access control and video surveillance
  • Able to perform physical tasks such as walking, running, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • CPR Certification, Certified First Responder, and AED Certification or ability to earn within 30 days
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical fitness test.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or sixty credits from an accredited institution
  • Designation as a Certified Institutional Protection Specialist (IFCPP) and/or Certified Protection Professional (ASIS)
  • Certified in First Aid, AED, CPR, Basic Life Support, or ability to obtain within 30 days
  • Active participation in national and/or local security organizations such as IFCPP and ASIS.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring access control via state-of-the-art security software platforms
  • Conducting regular, thorough patrols of buildings and grounds
  • Evaluating situations to determine any hazards or dangers and taking appropriate action
  • Monitoring building security by regularly inspecting doors, windows, gates, and locks
  • Completing daily logs to ensure thorough, accurate record keeping
  • Performing building opening and/or closing procedures including locking and unlocking doors and arming and disarming alarms
  • Conducting regular surveillance of all security systems including cameras and alarms
  • Working in the Gatehouse as the first point of contact for staff and vendors
  • Operating vehicles to safely transport staff and equipment around the site.
