Role: Patrols the buildings and grounds of the casino and related areas.  Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.   Responsible for maintaining order in all areas of the facility. Apprehends persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts. Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.  Watches for and reports irregularities such as fire, health, and security hazards to the Security Shift Supervisor. Observes departing personnel to guard against theft of Company property. Notifies the Security Control Room in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.  Records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of equipment or machinery.  Performs other job-related duties as required by the Security Sergeant; and to perform job responsibilities satisfactorily and to according to department standards.     Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures.   Fosters team work and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations.   Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

  • React accordingly and assist all occupant security & safety during all Life Safety situations, whether caused by Fire, Environmental, Terrorist, Medical or Criminal Action.
  • Observe health and safety conditions of the property and report proactively during inspections of all areas as continuously as possible to deter and prevent all property deficiencies, associate breaking of company policy and any incident/occurrence.
  • Report to designated MOD on shift and regularly communicate throughout the shift to ensure communication channel is active.
  • Comply with directives from Front Office Manager or Guest Services Manager and only verified with the Security Supervisor or Security Department Manager when significant doubt exists of directive given.
  • Pass on all relevant information as soon as possible to designated MOD to be added to MOD log or just to keep them informed and for follow-up with guests or associates.
  • When issuing Trespass to Property (86) from the property MUST involve approval from Director of Security and General Manager.
  • Be aware of all gaming laws as it pertains to the casino floor.
  • Respond to all event dispatches as quickly as possible to assist with guest response and avoid excessive waits for any associate as well since it ultimately affects the guest.
  • Respond to dispatches and follow-ups from dispatcher diligently and efficiently in a professional manner.
  • Complete and descriptive Incident Reports are to be created in MS Shift with all pictures taken and statement forms provide to the Director of Security. Investigation procedures must be followed.
  • Turn in all Lost and Found items immediately and turned into Lost and Found accurately logged and stored in the designated storage areas according to policy and procedure.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of emergency procedures.
  • Maintain a working relationship with local law enforcement authorities.
  • Respond to guest problems and complaints.
  • Effectively monitor and protect hotel assets.
  • Complete proper documentation and reports all associate accident and general liability incidents to Loss Prevention Manager and Director of Finance (if necessary).
  • Provide means for obtaining necessary medical attention on a timely basis.
  • Work hand in hand with all departments.
  • Strive to improve service performance.
  • Conduct investigation of all losses of hotel assets and refers to proper management for disposition.
  • Display leadership in guest hospitality, exemplifies excellent customer service and creates a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Bring issues to attention of management when needed.
  • Ensure hotel policies are administered fairly and consistently and reports any violations that are observed.
  • Incorporate guest safety and satisfaction as focus to the security team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be literate and able to communicate in English when dealing with staff and guests. High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Nevada Gaming License
  • Nevada Driver’s License
  • Current CPR/AED Certification
  • Current Alcohol Awareness Training Card (TAM)
  • Must possess the ability to write incident reports and effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to customers, clients and other employees of the Company.
  • Must possess the ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Good customer relation skills (required).
  • One (1) year certificate from college or technical school; or minimum three (3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
  • On-site training (required).
  • Emergency Medical Technician or First Responder Certificate (preferred).
  • Minimum one (1) year previous Security, military, or police experience (preferred).
  • Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of applicable laws pertaining to the gaming industry.
  • First aid and/or CPR training (preferred).
