About The Position

The Security Officer provides security and related assignments to ensure the safety of the Medical Center's patients, visitors, and associates. This role is also responsible for preventing destructive acts to the Medical Center's property and performing other related duties as required.

Requirements

GED or High School diploma
Completion of an NYS-approved security guard training program and a current NYS security guard license
CPR/AED Card

Nice To Haves

Valid NYS Class 4 Driver License is preferred
At least 3 years of security or military experience is preferred

Responsibilities

Guard and secure designated entrances/exits to ensure only patients, associates, and authorized visitors enter the facility.
Respond to emergency/unusual situations in the facility, including fires, disturbances, disruptive patients or visitors, and other occurrences when assistance is requested or needed by the staff according to Montefiore procedures & policies.
Check authorizations to remove medical center property from the facility.
Safeguard facility, patient, and associate property according to Montefiore procedures & policies.
Exercise constant vigilance in reference to patients, staff, and visitors within the facility.
Receive complaints and suggestions from staff and communicate these responses to supervisor.
Perform ancillary support functions including but not limited to morgue operation, vehicular traffic control, off-hours receipt of packages, information desk duties, and transporting people or packages between Montefiore facilities.
Perform all related duties as assigned by a security supervisor.
