About The Position

Ensures the temple ordinances are kept pure, recorded accurately and made available to worthy Church members by: Providing an environment where patrons may have a positive and uplifting experience each time they come to the temple. Maintaining and operating temples at standards established by the First Presidency. Provides security coverage for the protection of temple property from fire, theft, vandalism, trespassing, and illegal entry; renders appropriate first aid response in medical situations occurring on church property; renders security-related assistance to employees, visitors, tourists; makes on-the-spot decisions for necessary response. This position acts as a lead worker, as needed.

Requirements

• At least two years of full-time security work experience.
• Successful completion of prescribed security training and certification test within 90 day period (CPR, First Aide, Basic Security Procedures, etc.), and re-certification each year thereafter.
• Demonstrated leadership ability in previous employment.
• Has no prior police record, or affiliation with anti-government or anti-Church groups.
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of post high school education or equivalent security training preferred.
• (Additional security related schooling and experience helpful.)

Responsibilities

• Makes required number of reviews of buildings and grounds during assigned shift.
• Examines doors, windows, and gates to assure they are secure. Inspects for potential sources of improper entry to the buildings and reports them to the security supervisor for correction.
• Assists those in need of information, directions, or with other problems. Works any shift or post as needed. Available on twenty-four hour basis as needed for emergencies.
• Acts as a lead worker, as needed.
• Registers at security checkpoints as required.
• Makes personal contact with persons causing trouble and/or contacts the appropriate police agency. Makes searches of buildings on bomb calls or other threats. Summons help as needed.
• Renders appropriate first aid assistance to all persons on church property when needed. Contacts ambulance and paramedic services in emergency situations.
• Watches for and reports security and safety hazards, such as unauthorized persons, suspicious circumstances, fire, physical, and mechanical hazards. Takes part in security training to develop job capacity, skills, and security awareness.
• Makes out all necessary written reports related to assignments and keeps a record noting any unusual events.
