About The Position

The Security Officer is responsible for enforcing all Publix security policies and procedures, including detaining and questioning individuals as required. This role involves working closely with facility management on matters of safety, security, and loss control. Key duties include maintaining strict control over property access, managing material and truck traffic, observing persons and property on the grounds, controlling visitors, and completing all necessary logs and incident reports. The Security Officer will also perform other assigned security duties.

Requirements

At least 20 years of age
Have a valid drivers license
Possess a Class D Security Officer's License or independently obtain a Class D Security Officer's License within 90 days of your date of hire
Able to withstand walking and standing for long periods of time
Able to work any shift, including, but not limited to days, nights, late nights, early mornings, weekends, extended hours, and holidays
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to perform mathematical computations
Excellent telephone communication skills
Able to use a two-way radio
Verifiable satisfactory job performance record
Able to work well with others and be a team member
Show enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work and a Commitment to Publix and our Mission
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
6 months of security experience

Nice To Haves

Bilingual (Spanish)
Intermediate Knowledge of TDPS (Transportation Driver Performance System)
Knowledge of Publix access control procedures
Knowledge of outbound and inbound freight delivery procedures
Basic knowledge of creating routine letters and memos and perform basic word processing tasks
Basic knowledge of entering and correct data, modify a workbook, format a worksheet, use simple arithmetic functions
