About The Position

This individual contributor position is responsible for four basic functions: Site security and safety, first aid, observation of property and equipment for abnormalities, and serving as the primary point of contact for employee and non-employee questions related to site access and security. These functions are to be performed with a continual sense of company policy and liability, and the incumbent must be able to maintain confidentiality. It is especially important that the incumbent demonstrate the ability to work effectively with various staff and third-party individuals. The incumbent’s performance contributes to the overall mission of Valmont.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and 2+ years of related work/educational experience
  • Knowledge in the following areas: basic law, physical security methods, site access control, confidential information control, theft control and investigation, incident investigation, high security lock repair-installation, alarm monitoring and systems, safety procedures and policies, fire protection methods and systems, and C-TPAT procedures
  • Must have and maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license
  • Knowledge of emergency first aid and rescue, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods
  • Professional attitude and demeanor reflecting the concerns and mission of Valmont Industries, Inc.
  • Annual training review of the facilities hazardous waste management program
  • Ability to learn and recognize safe and un-safe operating conditions. This may include, but is not limited to, boiler systems, key production equipment, gas storage, and hazardous waste storage
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with associates and guest

Nice To Haves

  • Criminal Justice Degree (Bachelors or Associates)
  • Certifications (CPP or PSO)
  • Prior experience in a security role
  • Valid EMT or EMR state or national license

Responsibilities

  • Work 7:00am -5:30pm, 2 officers per shift, may adjust as needed due to business needs
  • Greet all persons entering or calling the office building and provide appropriate information
  • Respond to emergency situations, e.g., issues of workplace violence, guest or associates stranded in elevators, accidents, fires, medical emergencies, crime in progress, alarm notifications, etc.
  • Assist with emergency procedures and may direct public safety officials
  • Provide associates and guest escorts to and from facility
  • Patrol the facility to provide physical security and safety protection for the facility and associates, may be required to patrol the campus either on bike, foot or in vehicle
  • Serve as a source of information for employees and non-employees
  • Demonstrate outstanding integrity throughout the performance of the duties assigned
  • Possess and use excellent judgment and a sensitive dimension in dealing with questions, problems, and situations requiring direction to solutions and services in the spirit of company policy and goals
  • Evaluate each call for this service in an accurate and decisive manner in accordance with Nebraska State Medical and Department Protocols
  • Constantly update training and protocol for emergency first aid
  • Assist the Valmont, Valley, NE campus as needed
  • Monitor CC TV/Security systems, fire systems and remote access monitoring systems
  • Operate the access control system to allow or deny access, create access cards, create system reports and maintain the access control data base
  • Demonstrate an ability to act on situations with respect to Valmont’s policies and goals
  • Observe, question, report and act on possible improprieties that may occur
  • Act swiftly and confidently in emergency settings to gain control and minimize, if not prevent injury, or loss of life
  • Monitor property and equipment and report abnormalities or concerns according to defined protocols
  • Direct problems and inquiries to the proper Valmont contacts for resolution
