Suncast Corporation is hiring Security Officers for 2nd and 3rd shifts! Summary: The Safety/Security Officer is responsible for patrolling and inspecting all areas of Suncast properties, including manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and office premises to monitor and report such incidents as fire, theft, vandalism, illegal activity, and safety concerns and violations. The Safety/Security department is required to work whenever the facility is in operation. This may require off-shift, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent communication skills and can articulate well.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to document legibly and clearly.
  • Capacity to quickly learn new software and technologies required for the role.
  • Willingness to work 6 days per week, including some holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Comfortable remaining on foot for extended periods while conducting patrols outside of the Security office.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License in the state of Illinois.
  • Must have a clean MVR for the past 5 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Security, CPR, EMT, or other emergency response training is preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol offices, manufacturing areas, and warehouses following an assigned schedule and observe employee safety, possible fire hazards, machine safety violations, and facility safety violations.
  • Document patrol findings in accordance with Suncast policy and procedures.
  • Complete incident investigations and document all findings, including pictures and videos when necessary.
  • Inspect door locks for proper operation and ensure they are locked and secure.
  • Acknowledge visitors at all entry points.
  • Ensure that only authorized visitors are permitted in the facility and they are properly checked in with the appropriate badges.
  • Contact the employee(s) regarding their visitor(s).
  • Follow Suncast policy concerning unexpected visitors.
  • Oversee screening activity at the metal detector and enforce established security procedures.
  • Ensure that visitors have the required safety equipment if they are going into the manufacturing area.
  • Notify employees if they are observed violating a rule and document the incident.
  • Inform supervisors and managers accordingly.
  • Facilities for damage or wear (e.g., leaking pipes, oil spills), document, and ensure safety hazards are corrected immediately.
  • Smoking areas and ensure they are used by authorized employees.
  • Employees leaving the building for lunch and breaks.
  • Employee purchases and other company property leaving the building.
  • Lock doors according to the pre-established schedule.
  • Permit any authorized employees access to secured areas.
  • Respond to emergencies, such as employee injuries and fires.
  • Contact the appropriate emergency assistance, both within and outside of Suncast.
  • Maintain order and ensure a calm, controlled response during emergency situations or security threats affecting facilities and personnel.
  • Comply with all OSHA and other regulations while performing duties.
  • Coordinate the evacuation of the premises when required and follow the appropriate procedure.
  • Coordinate emergency communications and actions as required.
  • Perform continuous observation of the surveillance cameras and investigate potential problems.
  • Collect and confirm all UPS and FedEx packages leave the premises on a daily basis.
  • Transport employees to and from the medical clinic for treatment or drug/alcohol testing as needed.
  • Work with other departments on specific projects and initiatives.
  • Explain company policies to employees and enforce safety regulations.
  • Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times.
  • Enforce parking regulations and proper traffic flow in the parking lots.
  • Complete routine patrols of employee parking areas and truck lots.
  • Check trucks entering and leaving facilities to ensure they should be on the property.
  • Ensure Security vehicle is clean, charged at all times, document any vehicle issues, and report findings to Supervisor if necessary.
  • Cross train with on-site Security Officers to learn their duties and cover during absences.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
