About The Position

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Driftwood Downtown Club located in the heart of Austin, TX, under the direction of the Director of Security for Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club, set outside of Austin, TX. Driftwood Downtown(DWDT) is seeking a Texas DPS Level 4 Personal Protection Officer to join the Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club Security team. The DWDT Level 4 PPO Security Officer is a dedicated, full-time position within Driftwood Security, permanently assigned to Driftwood Downtown. This role combines executive-level security responsibilities with concierge-style member service, requiring professionalism, discretion, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Pay rate: $30/hour

Requirements

  • Active Texas DPS Level 4 PPO Commission.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in military, law enforcement or private armed security. Only applicants that were discharged or separated from service on honorable terms will be considered. (Former military must provide a DD-214 and former law enforcement must be able to provide a F-5)
  • Prior experience and training with relevant firearms and defensive tactics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact confidently with high-net-worth individuals and VIPs.
  • Professional, articulate, and capable of exercising sound judgment under pressure.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Successfully pass our weapons qualifications course.
  • Clear Criminal Background.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be self-directed.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a concierge mindset.
  • Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working independently in an isolated role while remaining a key part of the Driftwood Security team.
  • Working knowledge of Genetec systems.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in executive protection (preferred).
  • Prior experience in hospitality security (preferred).
  • Advanced medical training (preferred).
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a proactive security presence while delivering world-class service to members and guests.
  • Conduct safety inspections, monthly equipment checks, and AED/D4L inspections.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports, operation plans, and after-action reports accurately and on time.
  • Assist Member Services with check-ins, conflict resolution, and VIP concierge security.
  • Respond to emergencies and assume command during incidents as directed.
  • Support special events and high-profile gatherings at DWDT with proactive security planning.
  • Uphold professional grooming, hygiene, dress, and conduct standards at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all EP-related information.
  • Participate in quarterly EP refreshers, in-service training, and firearms qualifications.
  • Serve as a liaison between security operations and other departments to ensure seamless member experiences.
  • Officer must maintain Texas DPS Level 4 PPO Commission, complete required training, and uphold Driftwood’s professional standards.
  • Must remain flexible to assist with DWDT operations and member-facing duties.
