About The Position

Security Officer Position Purpose To efficiently provide plant protection by making scheduled rounds of inspection, monitoring security surveillance and database systems, participating in emergency response situations, determining the need for special security involvement, and assisting with other maintenance jobs as directed by supervision.

Requirements

  • First responder certified or able to achieve first responder certification
  • Able to meet Fleet requirements needed to drive a company vehicle
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal direction
  • Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
  • Able to climb ladders and perform duties at various heights

Responsibilities

  • Provides building and grounds protection by making scheduled inspection rounds of outlaying areas and site locations.
  • Oversees physical security activities for internal monitoring, patrolling, and inspecting of company property, including monitoring and maintaining fire and security protection systems, and responding to alarms.
  • Uses company‑provided vehicle to perform inspection rounds of outlaying areas, buildings, and grounds.
  • Monitors security surveillance and database systems (facility doors, badging, card access, closed‑circuit television monitoring, etc.) and manages issuance of parking permits.
  • Enforces security badge policy by monitoring employee use, issuing temporary escort/non‑escort badge access, and removing or granting access for lost or misplaced cards per company policy.
  • Participates in emergency response situations (fire, severe weather, etc.) by monitoring response activities and determining the need for special security involvement.
  • Functions as a First Responder in medical emergencies and may assist Health Services.
  • Offers escort services and associated protection control measures to employees as applicable. Includes limited outdoor exposure in all conditions.
  • Secures all gates, doors, and windows.
  • Shuts off unused electrical equipment and air.
  • Shuts off sprinkler system shutoff valves in emergency situations.
  • Issues outside contractor welding permits on weekends.
  • Issues Hot Works and Red Tag permits.
  • Operates TV security monitoring system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Reports all observed violations of company rules.
