About The Position

Avita Health System is proud to serve the communities of Crawford and Richland counties through three hospitals and numerous clinic locations. Over the past few years, we’ve tripled in size, now employing over 2,200 team members and more than 160 physicians and advanced practitioners. Our mission is to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to the people who depend on us. We’re currently seeking a dedicated Security Officer  to join our Safety & Security Department at our Ontario hospital location. Position Overview Primary responsibilities include protecting people, property, information, and reputation of Avita Health System as well as enforcing the rules and regulations set forth by the organization. Professionalism is crucial for this very visible hospital employee. Greet patients/visitors when they enter the facility, offer assistance and/or escort to designation as needed. Patrolling the facility is required not only as a visible deterrent, but for providing a feeling of safety for staff, patients, and visitors. Security Officers will respond immediately to emergency codes within the hospital but do not provide treatment to patients. Security Officers also assist staff in verbally de-escalating or restraining unmanageable or unruly patients or visitors as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must be able to successfully complete an Essential Function Test (EFT) prior to employment.
  • Previous background experience in Hospital Security, Law Enforcement, Corrections, Military or other Public Service entities.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Public Service or current enrollment in a Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement program with continued progress towards completion.
  • Hazardous Material Awareness & Operations Level training.
  • Non-Violence Crisis Intervention Training.
