About The Position

As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring the hospital's buildings and grounds to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors. This role involves patrolling the premises on foot and by vehicle, guarding facility and unit access points, monitoring surveillance cameras, and testing new security technology. A critical aspect of the position is protecting all employees and visitors against acts of violence and responding to emergency codes in a timely manner. To succeed, you must be able to remain calm and take appropriate action based on the situation, known facts, and within the limitations of your position. Previous experience in security or patrol within a healthcare setting is preferred.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting, upon hire or Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting or One (1) year experience as a security officer.
  • Driver's License: NE, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days

Responsibilities

  • Monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors.
  • Monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises.
  • Guard facility and unit access points.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras.
  • Test new security technology.
  • Protect all employees/visitors against acts of violence should they arise.
  • Respond to emergency codes in a timely manner.
  • Protect staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors.
  • Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle.
  • Monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed.
  • Report unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Report HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conduct investigations, and write incident reports.
  • Ensure that all activities are logged.
  • Ensure incident reports are accurately completed, clear, concise, legible, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the correct location.
