About The Position

The Security Officer contributes to the CHI mission and vision by maintaining a reasonably safe and secure environment of care at hospital campuses and associated facilities and operations through the use of security strategies and tactics. Additionally officers may be called on to participate in clinical events as part of a PT care team. Officers have access to restricted or confidential company, individual and patient information.

Requirements

  • High School or Equivalent
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire.
  • PPCT and CPI are required within six months of hire.
  • Current driver’s license
  • Computer skills
  • writing ability
  • Ability to work independently and use good judgment to resolve a variety of complex situation resulting in a positive outcome.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and instructions during both calm and tense situations.

Nice To Haves

  • some college preferred
  • Previous Security or customer service experience
  • Licensed or Certified in the use of security equipment and tactics

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Initial investigations and appropriate follow-up for security incidents and document all findings
  • Conducts proactive foot and vehicle patrols of the entire campus to include all floors and buildings.
  • Responds to a variety of service calls to include but not limited to: disturbances, standbys, traffic control, escorts, property pick-up.
  • Ability to integrate into responding emergency teams during situations outside normal operations.
  • Intervene and control security incidents that may include loud, disorderly, physically aggressive or violent person’s visitors and summons police to assist if necessary.
  • Stays current on all required training to include required computer courses. Receives mandatory flu shot annually.
  • Ability to effectively utilize the security access, cameras, reporting, alarm systems and other security systems.
  • Maintain and project a high level of professionalism, integrity and instill confidence through the ware of the uniform and all interactions with team members, visitors and patients
  • During security incidents ability to take control of the situation de-escalate and maintain control using approved techniques up to and including approved “Us of Force” techniques and Citizens arrest dictated by the state law.
  • Support the overall security effort through adjusted schedule, location of work or on-call activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by security leadership.
  • Ability to integrate into clinical care teams and assists with the movement and restraining of patients as requested by nursing staff.
