About The Position

Under the direction of the Security Manager, the Security Officer protects property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards or interference. Individual makes periodic tours of facility and grounds to check for irregularities. Preserves order and may enforce regulations pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Guards, patrols, and monitors premises to prevent safety hazards, theft, violence, or infractions of rules.
• Writes reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security/safety of premises, securing entrances and exits as appropriate.
• Observes and reports incidents or suspicious activity to appropriate persons as is required by the post.
• Escorts personnel to and from parking lots, or between buildings, as requested.
• Monitors and directs vehicular traffic as needed in emergency access areas.
• Responds appropriately to the facility emergency codes.
• Reports and investigates all security incidents involving patients, visitors, staff, or property.
• Collects and secures patient valuables.
• Carries out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature as required for the assigned post. Specific tasks and duties may vary. Additional duties may be assigned and/or modified according to business necessity.
