About The Position

The Security Operations Center (SOC) Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of Independent Health associates, guests, and properties. This position involves 24x7 monitoring and response to physical security initiatives, including oversight of access controls, alarms, and CCTV systems. The SOC Officer is responsible for timely reporting of security events and incidents, contributing to a secure environment at various locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year of security guard force experience required, including familiarity with alarm systems.
  • Possession and maintenance of current active NYS Guard License is required.
  • Solid understanding of municipal security and emergency response protocols.
  • Working knowledge with security cameras, building alarm systems, and access controls.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills to generate reports and logs.
  • Effective written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to respond to emergency situations outside normal business hours as required.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security cameras and campus sites/buildings daily.
  • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances, coordinating with Facilities managers as appropriate.
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports, logs, and incident reports as required.
  • Act as a physical security liaison to IHA & IHC associates, supporting departmental needs including escorting.
  • Detect and assess security events and incidents across the enterprise.
  • Report unlawful activities such as theft or vandalism to law enforcement officers for further actions.
  • Coordinate with the guard force to ensure routine patrol rounds are conducted and reports are completed.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Follow procedures related to best practices, directives, and standard operating procedures.
  • Escalate system repairs and restricted access approvals to the appropriate managers.
