About The Position

As a Security Officer - Warehouse Gate Screener in Newark, NJ, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As a Screener at a fast-paced logistics and distribution location, you will help monitor entry points, check credentials, and support visitor and employee screening while maintaining a visible presence throughout assigned areas. You will conduct routine patrols, document security-related activity using site technology, and communicate clearly with team members and site leaders. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing customer service is preferred.
  • Experience with access control and/or badge systems is preferred.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site personnel, drivers, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Screen inbound and outbound traffic at designated access points by checking identification, verifying appointments and/or shipping documentation, and directing individuals to the proper location in accordance with post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including reporting concerns, contacting appropriate personnel, and documenting activity per site requirements.
  • Monitor entry and exit areas, dock approaches, and key operational zones for unusual activity, policy violations, and/or unauthorized access, and take action consistent with site procedures.
  • Complete required reports such as screening logs, incident reports, and shift activity notes, and communicate relevant updates to oncoming personnel and site contacts.
