As a Screener at a government location, you will help support daily operations by conducting entry screening, verifying credentials, and monitoring visitor flow to help reduce security-related concerns. You will stay visible, communicate clearly with staff and the public, document activity, and respond to incidents with professionalism. Requirements

  • Have 3 or more years of combined law enforcement, military, and/or security-related experience or a college degree.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
  • Be 21 or more years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • X-ray screening experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors and staff by following site-specific entry procedures and applying security-related screening protocols at designated checkpoints.
  • Screen people, packages, and property using approved methods such as magnetometers, handheld wands, and x-ray equipment when assigned, and/or conduct visual inspections in accordance with post orders.
  • Verify identification, issue visitor credentials when directed, maintain entry logs, and help manage access to restricted areas in a government location.
  • Respond to alarms, prohibited item discoveries, disturbances, and other incidents in a calm, problem-solving manner, and notify appropriate personnel per site procedures.
  • Conduct periodic checks of screening equipment and the surrounding entry area, report hazards, malfunctions, and/or policy concerns, and complete required documentation.
