  • Perform all duties and assignments of an UNARMED security officer.
  • Assist Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captain, and the Director with watch related duties and hospital security related responsibilities.
  • Stand in positions, deal with physician emergency committals, report writing, log keeping, security & parking lot patrols, escorts, and property collections.
  • Patrol the interior and exterior grounds of the hospital to protect property and provide a safe environment for all patients, visitors, physicians, and employees.
  • Respond to all emergency situations and alert local authorities when required.
  • Monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic on hospital property.
  • Monitor visitors and issue passes after hours.
  • Assist medical staff with restraining and/or detaining specific types of hospital patients.
  • Enforce and follow all Security and St. Tammany Health Systems' (STHS) policies and procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow written or oral instructions.
  • 2+ years of UNARMED security related experience is required.
  • Must not have any felony convictions.
  • Must own and maintain ownership of a privately owned cellular phone for emergencies and on-call events.
  • Must satisfactorily complete written tests.
  • Must be eligible and willing to work 12 hour shifts, day and/or night to include weekends.
  • Must have a valid and current state issued driver's license.
  • Must maintain and provide proof of automobile insurance in amounts which meet at least the minimum liability coverage limits required by the state of their residence.
  • Clearance of driving record check.
  • Prior experience as a Police Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified law enforcement officer.
  • Prior experience as a federal law enforcement officer.
  • Prior experience as a military enforcement officer.
  • Prior experience as an UNARMED hospital security officer.
  • Training and experience with conflict resolution and ability to de-escalate hostile situations.
