About The Position

As a Security Officer - Unarmed - University - FT in Chicago, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at an education location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence to help reduce security-related incidents. You will engage with students, staff, and visitors with strong customer service and clear communication while documenting activity and reporting concerns. Requirements

  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, campus-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, libraries, parking areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify hazards or maintenance concerns.
  • Monitor access points and common areas, checking identification or access credentials as directed, and assist with visitor directions and general campus information.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and calls for assistance in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating with campus officials and/or local emergency services when needed.
  • Document patrol activity, incidents, and observations in written reports and logs, and communicate timely updates to site leadership according to post orders.
